Lock & Shade is a full service salon, collective art space and education center in Asbury Park, NJ. Utilizing the newest techniques and trends to give a custom look to each individual client. We are a team of artists dedicated to making you look and feel your best! At Lock & Shade we celebrate our clients beauty each and every day. We wish to inspire people to forget any cookie cutter image they have been fed, and embrace what they have been given. Our artists believe that beauty is not boxed in and each client should feel completely special and unique. We create art on beautiful canvases and we are truly grateful for it.

Since our opening in 2016, Lock & Shade has made our mark on Asbury Park, not just for our excellent hair, makeup and bridal services, but the welcoming, creative environment in which we do it. We bring you high end services from skilled artisans in a fun and unpretentious salon. With our “COME AS YOU ARE” mantra, we prioritize self expression and confidence through the art of hair and makeup. We believe that your look should be just as unique and special as you are, which is why every single appointment is a custom session focused on achieving YOUR idea of beauty.
As a Lock & Shade client, you can take comfort in knowing you’re supporting a small, feminist, female owned business that proudly stands with our local art and activism community. We regularly raise awareness and funds for progressive causes like LGBTQ and Womans Rights, to local food drives.. as we believe deeply in the connection between our salon and the city it lives in. We also take great pride in being an environmentally friendly salon, third party certified as a 99% sustainable business.

Proudly located in downtown Asbury, we are accessible by Cookman or Lake Avenue. Our main entrance on Lake Avenue is directly above Electric Tattoo. Our back entrance on Cookman Avenue can be accessed via the courtyard between Foolish Ginger and Uncorked.
We recommend leaving 10 minutes for parking.
All street parking is metered.
-Please leave time for metered street parking
-For the safety of your children, and the comfort of our guests and staff, we do not allow young children to accompany you to your appointment. We also do not perform services on anyone under 16 years of age, or anyone requiring adult supervision during their consultation or service.
-Our salon practices gender neutral pricing and offers "quiet appointments"
